The Great Trees are the true deities of the five lands, binding them together and keeping order with their ancient power. They pulse with a steady rhythm; out to breath life into the land and entering the world into a period of growth and warmth, in to pull creatures to rest again, a period of cool and preparation, the cycle of life and death. Every time the deities breath, they are continuing the cycle of Li, the life energy and source of magic in Aerth. Cycles are thus regulated by the ancient heartbeats of these deities, but since they no longer beat the Li has slipped away, everything is in havoc, the lands chaotic, magic weakened, and time difficult to track.
Each deity tree had a guardian, and was also protected by the land in which their roots were anchored. Shrouded in Li, the locations of the deity trees were inconstant and ever changing. From the Giving Tree Grove in the Ancient Woods of Espersia, to Pandora temple in the Salts of Adelasia, to Mirage island in the Skysea of Avistra, to Wyrms Pyre of Osamodath and to the Glass Mountains of Neivara, these places and the great deity trees have only been seen by few.
