The Great Trees are the true deities of the five lands, binding them together and keeping order with their ancient power. They pulse with a steady rhythm; out to breath life into the land and entering the world into a period of growth and warmth, in to pull creatures to rest again, a period of cool and preparation, the cycle of life and death. Every time the deities breath, they are continuing the cycle of Li, the life energy and source of magic in Aerth. Cycles are thus regulated by the ancient heartbeats of these deities, but since they no longer beat the Li has slipped away, everything is in havoc, the lands chaotic, magic weakened, and time difficult to track.
Each deity tree had a guardian, and was also protected by the land in which their roots were anchored. Shrouded in Li, the locations of the deity trees were inconstant and ever changing. From the Giving Tree Grove in the Ancient Woods of Espersia, to Pandora temple in the Salts of Adelasia, to Mirage island in the Skysea of Avistra, to Wyrms Pyre of Osamodath and to the Glass Mountains of Neivara, these places and the great deity trees have only been seen by few.

Espersia
Chapter One: A Beautiful Satire
Not long ago, people cut down four of the great trees who's roots ran through our elemental lands. From the wood of these ancient trees were crafted books by the most talented of souls, in hopes that each nation would be able to use the tree's power to gain power over the other lands. Little did they know though, how grave their mistake had been.
Little by little, day by day, and moon by moon, the land seemed to grow grey around then, enraging the once peaceful creatures. The guardians who once protected the great trees were also effected, powerful and full of darkness they broke apart the five elemen

Guardians
The five guardians looked after the five great trees whos roots ran through the land and kept it strong and together. Characters looked up to them as great deities, but did not realise until late that it was what they protected that was truly important. Each guardian represented a different virtue to the people of the land, life, knowledge, freedom, passion and tranquillity.

The Sun and the Lune are believed to be the passive guardians that watch over all of Aerth. The Sun would shine bright and watch over the day, while the Moon would veil the lands in a gentle darkness and watch over the land as it slept.
